Anika is a temporary associate producer/reporter working MPR News. She has been a part of the Voter Helpdesk team creating the most comprehensive candidate guides MPR has ever made. She most recently supported Call to Mind and APM Reports. She studied theatre arts and journalism with an emphasis of social justice at Hamline University in St. Paul, where she was the Editor in Chief of the student newspaper, The Oracle, and performed in the theatre and dance department. During her time at Hamline, she covered the COVID-19 pandemic, administrative and budget turbulence and policy changes. She also covered preservation and indigenous people with the Christian Science Monitor during study abroad in Thailand. Anika grew up in the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities.

In spite of years of pressure from advocates, access to emergency contraceptives remains difficult for women who rely on the health care systems run by or on behalf of their tribal nations. We spent more than six months surveying tribal clinics and pharmacies around the country. Dozens refuse to provide Plan B — or impose restrictions.
